Comedy Competition

Each spring Rooster T. Feathers is proud to host an Annual New Talent Comedy Competition.  It starts with a total pool of 120 amateur comedians. The audience votes for their favorites at each show, advancing them to the semifinals and finals, and ultimately picks the funniest local comedian. The top finalists compete for cash prizes and a week of paid emcee work at Roosters. All competition shows feature a professional emcee and headliner.

Sign ups start towards the end of each year, with the competition beginning in February/March. To sign up, email roosterbookings@yahoo.com with the following information:

  • Full name
  • Stage name (if different)
  • Cell number
  • City where you live
  • First and second date choices for the preliminary round

2023 Prelim Dates: March 29, April 5, April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3, May 10, or May 17
Semi Dates will be: May 24, 31 & June 7th
Finals: June 14, 2023

• This is an amateur comedy competition - if you make your living doing stand up or you're on the road working in clubs then you do not qualify.
• Participants must be from the San Francisco/San Jose/Bay Area (2.5-hour radius of Sunnyvale please) to qualify.
• If you can't make it to at least one of the Prelims dates, one of the Semis dates and the Finals - PLEASE DON'T SIGN UP.
• Please note - we get a BUNCH of signups fast so all I will do is sign you up for your date. I will send an email out in a couple weeks with a schedule of EVERYONE so far. It's not useful to send them individually at this point. Thanks for understanding. IF you don't hear back from me with a confirmation by February 28th - email me again.
