Whether you are a working comedian or just looking to get your feet wet on stage, Roosters can help you get to the next level. We periodically offer classes and consulting in stand-up comedy, emcee skills, and promotion that are designed to bolster your knowledge and skills. Check our calendar page for any currently scheduled class information. Regardless of your goal or level, studying comedy at Rooster T. Feathers is a fun way to network with new people and expand your skills.
If you’re getting on stage for the first time or have tried your jokes out on an audience or two, this is the class for you. We want to help you speed up the learning curve a little… or a lot with all the answers to the questions you didn’t even know to ask!
Topics to cover: Joke development, where to start, how to get stage time, performance style and microphone techniques, the comedy “not so common sense” and the basics of performing stand-up!
This one-and-a-half-hour session is taught by Roosters' owner and booker, Heather Barbieri.
Have you ever wondered why no one tells the emcee how to do his or her job? We wondered the same thing. If you are starting to get work as an emcee, or would like to, this is the class for you. The basics of being a good host will help you feel more confident and comfortable in your comedy career. Great emcees don’t just happen… they learn the skills that are necessary to get hired and paid to host real shows in real comedy clubs. There are a lot of comics out there getting great laughs who don’t know how to emcee a show. Bookers hire someone who can do both. This class will teach you the basics, give you examples, and show you how to be a great host!
This one-and-a-half-hour session is taught by Roosters' owner and booker, Heather Barbieri.
Are you wondering…
…why you're not getting booked?
…why other people are getting booked and you’re not?
…if you're ready to get booked?
…what bookers want?
…what is the next step to get paid comedy work?
…if your promotional materials are up to snuff?
…who to call? And when?
If you want the answers to these questions, and more, you should get them from an expert in the field. Someone who books comedians for a full-time professional comedy club, who knows agents and managers. Someone who is honest and not afraid to tell it like it is....Wait a minute....We know someone like that!
This one-and-a-half-hour session is taught by Roosters' owner and booker, Heather Barbieri. $40.
Hecklers are stupid, and we wish we could find all of them and put them in heckler jail somewhere. But the truth is, if you do comedy, someone will intentionally, or unintentionally, ruin your set at some point in time. You are bound to face challenging audience members, but you can learn techniques to deal with them so you come out looking like gold every time. The basics of successfully handling any heckler will give you confidence on stage to move forward with your comedy. This class will teach you the tools and techniques professional comedians use to keep every set on track. There’s a lot more mastery to it than just some quick slams and saves!
This one-and-a-half-hour session is taught by Roosters' owner and booker, Heather Barbieri. $40.
